I mentioned in an earlier post that I lived in Mississippi. You might be wondering why in the world I picked MS, but that is an easy answer. My brother and his family live there. I was there for almost three months to help around the house while his wife was sick because she is pregnant and will be having a baby in the next month! I had a great time there with him and his family and got to work at GiGi's cupcakes. Fantastic place to work, loved decorating cupcakes and got sick from eating too many while I was there lol. It was such a blast and blessing to get to get closer to my brother and his family while serving them. I got to make dinners, desserts for everyone and had enjoyed making lunches for Tracy, who works and Belen and Nana who are in school. The Lord finds a way for us to use our gifts. Making lunches and doing dishes and making meals were easy enough, but they were something I am good at doing and the Lord guided me to use that gift to help them while I was there...  For that is why we have talents right? To use them! (Matt. 25: 14-30) We had fun getting out together, having family home evenings and going to the movies, celebrating birthdays, celebrating holidays too. For Halloween I made sugar cookie dough for our treats/activity for FHE that night. The kids had a ball shaping and frosting sugar cookies for Halloween. The kids wanted to help so I had my little eight year old niece directing the two younger ones, Aurianna (Nana) and Lincoln on what to do. I would roll out the dough and they would cut them out.... I caught them sneaking dough more than once while I was making the frosting lol The cookies were sooo yummy! I don't think Lincoln even ate a cookie that night after all the frosting he licked off his butter knife and hands in between every cookie he frosted. I enjoyed running with my brother and having great talks with him in the evenings. Kristy (My brothers wife) and Tracy and I enjoyed watching movies together after putting the little ones in bed. Kristy has a yummy specialty of caramel popcorn which we loved to eat as a family while we watched shows together. While I was there I also got the opportunity to go down to New Orleans with my brother after Hurricane Isaac and help clean up. It was a great experience. It was sad to see all the damage. We got to help gut out the houses, and it was hard work but felt good to do. We had fun listening to music as we went and it was neat to see how much some of the people appreciated us being there to help. The Church had it all oragnized when we got there. They even had a shower system set up for us after we cleaned up! That was a little sketchy but it was a fun experience. They took a few gazebo type shelters and divided it into little stalls with nozzles in each one for the shower! Crazy! There weren't too many girls out there so either so it was fun to just chill with all the guys and work hard along side them. All in all my experience in Mississippi was fantastic! I got so many opportunities to work hard and to remind myself that I can do hard things: Getting up early for work, going to New Orleans, working a part time job, helping with the family and keeping up on my exercise and scripture study all helped reinforce that in me. I was planning to stay longer, even though Kristy was getting better but I felt it was time to go home. I was asked if I was interested in being in a play back home. I prayed about it and auditioned by skype... that was the first. I got the lead role.... I'll talk about that in my next post..... but I will just say within two weeks of auditioning I was back home and starting something new.
